“We should not only use the brains we have but all that we can borrow.” Woodrow Wilson
We believe learning is easier (and more fun!) when we do it together. Alongside individual lessons we provide students with many opportunities to build relationships together, allowing them to learn from and with each other.
Students have the opportunity to perform in two school concerts each year, one at Christmas and one in the summer. These are a great opportunity for students to show off to their family all the hard work they have put in to learning the piano. The Summer Concert is also filmed and students have the opportunity to purchase copies as a memento.
Once every half term we run group lessons instead of individual lessons. In these groups, students spend time revising musical concepts, working on musicianship skills, learning about different musical styles and genres and performing to each other. There are a number of benefits from students having regular group lessons:
Each year our primary school-aged students support the work of CLIC Sargent by taking part in their nation-wide Practice-a-thon. Students ask family and friends to sponsor them to play the piano for a set number of minutes every day. To date CCPT students have raised over £1300 to help the work CLIC Sargent do with children and young people suffering from cancer.
