Whether you’re a total beginner looking to pick up a new hobby, need a bit of extra help as you work towards a music qualification, or are just keen to learn how to be more creative on the piano, we want to help you discover and grow your musical passions. So our teachers work with you to design your lessons, allowing you to choose the focus that suits you best and working with you in a way that will grow your confidence and all-round enjoyment of music, as well as developing your skills on the piano.

So you might want to focus on a particular style, like classical piano, jazz, or pop, or you might be interested in music technology, improvisation, or learning to read notation. You’ll also look at technique and music theory, gaining the aural skills you need to better understand the make-up of the music you love and pick up new songs by ear.

It’s not all about playing music by other people either – we encourage you to create your own music, teaching you to compose and arrange both by yourself and with others. In fact, creative collaboration is a huge part of developing as a musician, and we make sure there are plenty of opportunities for all our students to learn, play and perform together. We run regular performance classes led by visiting professional musicians, hold summer workshops in things like songwriting and playing the blues, offer opportunities to see local orchestras and bands perform and put on a variety of concerts, charity gigs and practice-a-thons throughout the year.

What it costs

There are lots of things that make our musical community very different from traditional piano lessons – including the way we organise our fees. Instead of a per-lesson fee we just have one yearly cost, which covers many of the group learning activities we do together as well as giving you 38 individual lessons of 45 minutes each.

Our 2017/18 fees are £840.56 for the year, which you can either pay all in one go up-front or in monthly instalments of £76.41 between September and July.

If you join us part of the way through the year then we’ll work out the fees pro rata, and if you decide to stop lessons at any point we just ask for one month’s paid notice.
